Derya Bayraktaroğlu


An independent curator and writer. Her research focuses on the intersection of feminism, queer methodology, anarchist theory of knowledge (epistemological anarchism within Feyerabendian framework), political economy of contemporary art markets, participatory art and performance. Recently curated the exhibition unspeakable home, enchanting companions and the accompanying public program held at the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe, 2019. Co-curated colony exhibitions; 2017-2018, Kaos GL (Schwules Museum, Berlin, Abud Efendi Mansion, Istanbul.) She holds an M.A degree in Cultural Studies and a B.A in Political Science. Worked as a curatorial researcher for the VKV Contemporary Art Collection at Arter Museum (2015-2017), worked for Galeri Manâ(2012-2015) and served as an assistant for the Visual Arts Directorate of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency. She curates works of performance, conducts workshops that draw on the interplay between art and creative activism (Workshop Series: Intervention Performance for Reclaiming Public Space; 2013, Performance: a trial on SCUM; 2014– , Workshop: Queer Dispositions in Participatory Art and Creative Activism;2018–  ). She contributes to art magazines, online journals, and anti-corporate zines as writer.
